May 2022 Newsletter – From the cellar

Racking, filling, bottling and packaging. The cellar never rests, even at the end of the harvest time.

One of the most exciting moments for a vinery is the release of the new vintages on the market. Focusing on Barolo, we are happy to present four wines from three different vintages, capable of offering completely different nuances, but equally fascinating: the elegance of 2018, the intensity of 2017 and the incredible depth of 2016.

We are pleased to present our different expressions from Ravera MGA: 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova, 2018 Barolo Ravera, 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice, 2016 Barolo Ravera Riserva Vigna Elena.

Barolo Cascina Nuova 2018

The 2018 vintage was able to give refined wines, with soft and silky tannins, and the 2018 Barolo Cascina Nuova is not an exception. This Barolo is all about finesse, crunchiness of the fruit and pleasantness of drinking. The notes of red fruit and blood orange give way, little by little, to floral and spicy hints, while in the mouth it stands out for harmony, thanks to a good balance between freshness and tannic texture.

Barolo Ravera 2018

From the oldest vines of the property, this Barolo comes to life. It is the essence of the cru of which it bears the name and offers an intense and layered nose, which constantly evolves during the tasting experience: blackberry, ripe strawberry, cherry, white pepper, medicinal herbs, flowers. Its flavor immediately refers to the area of origin. Fresh, tasty and with great depth, the 2018 Barolo Ravera, although young, has a dense tannic texture, but composed and well-integrated, and a very long spicy finish.

Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice 2017

The 2017 Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice is multi-layered and complex; it shows sweet aromas of juicy red fruit that gradually leave room for intriguing hints of licorice, violet, black pepper, and undergrowth. This is our most “classic” Barolo: it finds its harmony thanks to the excellent balance between dense tannic texture, good freshness, and savouriness, for a result of great dynamism and depth.

Barolo Ravera Riserva Vigna Elena 2016

Dressed in garnet red, this Barolo has a unique olfactory profile, which dispenses aromas of berries, blood orange, rose petals and licorice. The palate has an incisive depth and expresses itself with refinement and class thanks to soft and smooth tannins and a very long finish.
