Exclusive report: Ian D’Agata reviews 15 vintages of the Barolo Ravera Riserva Vigna Elena

The famous international wine critic Ian D’Agata has recently published an exclusive report on the website TerroirSense.com, which is entirely dedicated to a 15-year vertical tasting (1997-2016) of the Barolo Ravera Riserva Vigna Elena:

Vertical Tasting Report: Cogno Barolo Ravera Riserva Vigna Elena 1997-2016

The text opens with a beautiful introduction in the memory of Elvio Cogno, our founder and Master. Defined by Ian D’Agata as “one of the great old men of Barolo”, he has been remembered for his talent, passion and innate visionary nature.

One of his most important records is certainly to have been able to highlight the nebbiolo rosé, which is the main leitmotif of the whole article.

In fact, after giving an overview of the characteristics of this grape and telling the story behind the label of the Vigna Elena, the wine critic reviewed 15 different vintages of this wine, starting from the most recent one, the 2016 vintage, which received a score of 100 points. Other excellent scores were assigned to the following vintages: 2015 (98 p.), 2013 (97 p.), 2007 (97 p.) and 1999 (98 p.).

We invite you to read the full article on the website TerroirSense.com and we take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the author Ian D’Agata, not only for publishing the first vertical tasting of the Barolo Ravera Ris. Vigna Elena in the history of our winery, but also for describing and remembering Elvio Cogno with great humanity, who we see as a constant and inexhaustible source of inspiration.
