Novello, September 21, 2016 – The winery Elvio Cogno won the Wine & Spirits title of “Winery of the Year 2016” for the fifth time. The wines of Nadia Cogno and Valter Fissore have once again distinguished themselves out of 15,000 wines blind-tasted by the magazine’s tasting editors over the course of the year.
They owe their success to the hard work, commitment, dedication, foresight, and above all passion of Elvio Cogno, as well as Nadia and Valter. Together, the Cogno family has created and consolidated a brand that focuses on the Menzione Geografica, or cru, of Ravera of Novello.
“A wine, overall a great wine, must be a dream. It must be created and made with devotion, calmness, and continuity, and it must have the audacity to follow the road less traveled and as such, not always win the approval of others,” says Valter Fissore. “It takes courage. The kind of courage that Elvio showed when he chose to change his job and life to pursue his ambition to create great Barolo wines, valuing the potential of a territory like the Ravera cru that was at the time unknown. It led to the foundation of a winery whose wines tell the story of a territory and, above all, are synonymous with quality in the world. His teachings are an important heritage. That is why it’s very important to me to dedicate this recognition to him.”
The awards ceremony will take place on October 10, 2016 in San Francisco at the City View of Metreon. The wines of Elvio Cogno, along with other excellent wines of the world, will be served at a great wine tasting, open to wine lovers and industry professionals.
